William Ross State High School’s Student Resource Scheme (SRS) provides essential learning resources through bulk purchasing and hire arrangements, helping families save time and money. Resources include textbooks, worksheets, student diaries, ID cards, online programs, and temporary use of subject-specific materials and equipment.

All funds collected are used solely to operate the scheme, which is approved annually by the school’s P&C Association.

SRS Participation

Participation in the Student Resource Scheme (SRS) is optional and remains in place for the duration of your child’s enrolment unless changed. Parents joining the scheme for the first time must submit a Participation Agreement Form before enrolment. If no form is received, the school will assume you have opted out and you will need to provide the required resources yourself.

Parents may opt in or out in future years by submitting a new Participation Agreement Form. Year-level resource lists are available on the school website.

Fees, Charges & Inclusions

The school’s SRS fee is based on a flat fee structure and varies by year level. Details of fees and included resources are available in the relevant SRS Resource List and on the school website.

The Textbook and Resource Allowance (TRA) is deducted from the SRS fee, reducing the amount payable. If the SRS cost is equal to the TRA, no fee is payable.

All resources included in the SRS are detailed in the SRS Resource list. This is a comprehensive list of all resources included in the scheme and their associated costs.

Textbook and Resource Allowance

The Queensland Government provides a Textbook and Resource Allowance (TRA) to eligible students, paid directly to the school to help reduce the cost of participating in the Student Resource Scheme (SRS).

The allowance does not cover personal items such as textbooks, computers, musical instruments, or consumable classroom materials, which remain the responsibility of parents and carers. TRA eligibility .............

For more information about the TRA, visit the Department's website.

The 2026 TRA is.
Years 7 to 10 -  $164

Years 11 to 12 - $357

Resources provided

Schools develop an SRS to provide the resources students need to access the curriculum. Details of included resources are available on the school website.

Resources may include:

  • Student-owned consumables - consumable items used in class by the students (e.g. industry technology, cooking ingredients, art and craft materials, stationery, exercise books, student diary).
  • Student-owned non-consumables - these items are retained by the student and may be used over multiple years (e.g. scientific calculator, headphones, portable data storage device).
  • Resources hired to students - these items are hired to the student for their personal use for a specific period (e.g. textbooks, musical instruments, laptops).

Extra Curricular & Recreational Activities

Optional extra-curricular and recreational activities, such as sports, performing arts, debating, excursions, social events and fundraising activities, are offered to enrich students’ educational experiences.

Participation is voluntary, and fees are charged on a cost-recovery basis. Costs may include coaching, equipment, uniforms, venue hire, travel, insurance, officials and other activity-related expenses. Fees are based on participant numbers and are communicated to parents before the activity begins.

Students will not be prevented from participating in a learning activity that is part of the curriculum if their fees and charges have not been paid. A principal may decide to exclude a student from optional, non-curricular activities like school formals and camps if their fees and charges are unpaid.

Invoicing & Payment

Payment Methods

SRS payments can be made via BPOINT, Qkr, EFTPOS (credit/debit card) or Centrepay.

  • BPOINT payments, use the CRN and invoice number on your school invoice.
  • Qkr app can be downloaded through Google Play or the App Store.
  • Centrepay is available to eligible Centrelink customers. Contact the school for assistance with any payment option.
  • EFTPOS payments can be made in person at the school

Payment Plans

Several payment options including a single payment for the full year's fee or term instalments are available. An instalment plan can also be negotiated with the school.

Any unpaid invoices, will be managed according to the Department's Debt Management Procedure and may result in the student being excluded from the scheme and/or from participating in non-curricular activities until payment is made.

Refunds

If a student leaves school during the year, your school will work out:

  • the SRS fees that have been paid in advance and can be returned to you, less (where appropriate) any costs associated with damaged or non-returned SRS resources

  • any TRA you may be eligible for.

The school will then either pay you a refund or send you an invoice for any amount due.

Unpaid Debts & Financial Hardship

Parents experiencing financial hardship who are currently participating, or wish to participate, in the SRS should contact the school to discuss available options. Several payment options are available such as paying in instalments and part or full fee waivers depending on the circumstances. All discussions will be held in the strictest confidence. Unpaid debts may result in reminders, payment plans, or recovery action in line with Department of Education policies.
