Rationale
Schools are now educating a generation of students who are growing up in a digital world. As the use of ICT continues to grow globally, students will increasingly demand an education that embraces ICT. In Queensland state schools, a range of information and communication technologies (ICT) are used to support student learning. There are a number of key drivers to consider:
• Learning—improving teaching and learning outcomes for our students
• Community—meeting the needs and expectations of the school community
• Technology—ensuring a safe, reliable and effective digital experience.
Implementation of BYOx
In 2026 it is expected that all students in Years 7, 8, 11 and 12 bring a laptop to school each day that they are responsible for and can utilise for learning across their classes.
While there will be IT Support on site at the school, students will be expected to take reasonable care of their device and follow the school’s BYOx policy and procedure and the school’s Student Code of Conduct.
Families who are facing financial hardship will be able to make arrangements through the school to access a device. Please contact the main office for further information.
