Welcome to William Ross State High School
Established in 1991, William Ross State High School was named after Townsville's first elected mayor, who was a dedicated advocate for education, recognised for his commitment to fostering learning and personal development amongst young people in the area.
Our “Moorish Idol" fish logo symbolises growth, adaptability, and resilience. It reflects our school's commitment to nurturing students' potential and empowering them to navigate the waters of education with confidence and determination.
Our school motto is Success through Commitment. This principle is evident in all aspects of our school, from our dedicated and caring staff through to our unique and talented students. In partnership, we all strive to improve academic results through our unwavering commitment to quality teaching and learning experiences.
Our aim is to provide an academically rigorous education that will equip our students to be active global citizens and lifelong learners. We have explicit, high-expectations of all learners and we expect success, recognising that success may look different in individual circumstances. All members of our school community are asked to take personal responsibility and accountability for their learning outcomes.
As part of the William Ross State High School community, you are invited to explore your own potential for success while engaging in learning experiences that will make this one of the most valuable and memorable times of your life.
