Students enrolled in Queensland state schools come from diverse social, cultural, geographic and family backgrounds, are of many identities, and of all abilities. Students experience inclusive education when they can access and fully participate in learning, alongside their similar-aged peers, supported by reasonable adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet their individual needs. Inclusion is embedded in all aspects of school life, and is supported by culture, policies and everyday practices. The Department of Education's Inclusive Education Policy commits the department to continuing our journey towards a more inclusive system at policy and regional levels, and as part of our everyday practice in schools, educational settings and classrooms.

At William Ross State High School, staff, students and the school community promote Queensland Department of Education policies by making our school one that embraces and values diverse backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences, creating a place of learning where we all belong.  An inclusive culture and practices ensure equity and excellence for students with a disability. Staff work together to develop high quality teaching and adjustments to provide opportunities for every student to succeed to their maximum potential in an environment where all students feel safe and supported.

Personalised Learning Coordinators

Personalised Learning Coordinators (PLC's) work collaboratively with their colleagues to promote and facilitate inclusion, differentiation and equality to ensure the needs of all students are met. We strive to embed inclusive practises in all aspects of our school life, and this is supported by culture, policies and everyday practices.

Teacher Aides, Educational Interpreters and Advisory language Models

These staff play a crucial role and are an invaluable resource in the inclusive classroom to support the teacher to include students with disabilities. They assist the teacher to provide a quality educational experience as well as increase the independence and social connections of all students with additional needs.
