When international students join us at William Ross State High School, they also join a local family and experience the best our region has to offer as an elite destination for international education.
Our International Schools Coordinator welcomes students on arrival and works with them, their natural family and their homestay family to ensure that everyone has a rewarding and memorable experience. William Ross State High School has several continuing and new homestay families. They live in various locations - different suburbs in the town and on properties on the outskirts of town. Each homestay family is visited, checked by the Police and issued with a special card by the Queensland Government Children’s Commissioner. Each homestay accommodation is assessed against a list of criteria that ensure it is suitable for international guests.
In addition, homestay families have regular information evenings and gatherings to ensure that they are skilled in dealing with international students. Students from overseas are encouraged to become part of our families, and learn about Australian life as they explore our local region.
During holidays, there are a number of exciting activities international students can experience whilst in Australia. Please visit the EQI Holiday Adventure Program for details.
